Finding your wedding speech idea

When you start thinking about what you want to say for any speech, it's easy to be intimidated. That's true with professional and personal occasions, but there are tried-and-true strategies to generate ideas. To develop your wedding speech, try these:

Write down 5 memories: Audiences love stories that demonstrate your relationship. That's

the key to any good toast. It doesn't matter if you're going for an emotional speech or trying to be funny.

Look for a theme: Once you've written down your memories, ask yourself if there's a discernable theme across them. Was the person always there for you in a crisis? Is the person with whom you cut loose? Why were these the memories you wrote down. Pro tip: If you can find a theme, it's a great way to start your speech.

Start with an intro: When writing a speech, don't concentrate on the end result. Just start with the first few sentences, and that might tell you what kind of speech you intend to write. Remember, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FUNNY. Humor doesn't come naturally to everyone.

Good luck!
